The small-server philosophy

A few principles for keeping self-hosted things useful, understandable and pleasantly boring.

The best home server is the one people can actually use. That means memorable addresses, honest status messages, sensible privacy, and fewer moving parts than the diagram in your head wants.

This site follows the same rule: static pages first, tiny enhancements second, and a graceful answer whenever a service is unavailable.
